Matthew Malinowski, Partner
Matthew plays an active role in the daily operations of the firm, overseeing everything from strategic decision-making to sourcing, due diligence, and capital allocation. He founded Keystone Equity Partners with a mission to provide founder and owner-operated businesses with a thoughtful alternative—one focused on building lasting value and positioning businesses for sustainable growth and long-term success.
As a first-generation American and the son of two entrepreneurial parents who built and managed small businesses, Matthew understands the dedication, resilience, and commitment it takes to succeed in the lower middle market. This personal experience shapes his work and guides the core values of Keystone Equity Partners: integrity and trust, enduring relationships, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. These principles are at the heart of his approach to every partnership.
Matthew also appreciates the emotional and complex nature of selling a business, a decision that is often deeply personal. For many owners, finding the right partner is both personal and daunting, often filled with uncertainty and the risk of suboptimal outcomes. With this in mind, Matthew is committed to making each transaction clear and supportive, ensuring the owners’ legacies are honored while setting the stage for continued growth.
With over 14 years of experience in business strategy, finance, and operations, Matthew has a diverse background that spans his family’s business, a top consulting firm, investment banking, and private equity. Most recently, he worked at a lower middle market private equity firm focused on tech-enabled services buyouts. He previously served in the Mergers and Acquisitions group at Moelis & Company in New York City, advising companies across numerous industries, and at PwC, guiding firms through operational initiatives.
Matthew holds a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Drexel University, where he graduated summa cum laude from the Pennoni Honors College. He also maintains an active CPA license in the state of Pennsylvania and serves on the Board of Directors of MANNA, a Philadelphia headquartered non-profit that uses nutrition to improve health for people with serious illnesses by providing medically tailored meals and nutrition education.
Outside of work, Matthew enjoys spending as much time as possible with his fiancée, twin sister and brother-in-law, often down the shore in Ocean City, NJ. You will likely find him running or biking on the boardwalk, cheering on his favorite Philadelphia sports teams alongside family and friends at a local spot.
